Not what you sell
It is not what you sell, it is how you sell it. You’ve got to make me want to buy your product. This is the reason the advertising industry is so important to the American economy.
Currently there are two people in advertising that are driving me nuts: Vince Offer, the ShamWow guy and Billy Mays, the OxiClean guy. These two are quite possibly the two most annoying people in television commercials today.
Vince Offer, the Sham-who guy, is so damn arrogant that you just want to reach threw the television and pop him in the face. And what is the deal with that dorky ear-piece microphone? He is the creepiest guy on television. I just want to call and yell at someone after seeing his commercials. “Why, why would you do this to us…?” Stop encouraging him!!!
Don’t even get me started on Billy Mayz. This loser thinks he can sell anything as long as he yells with a super intense imperative. You have to dive for the remote to turn down the volume everytime he’s on. Billy gets the consumer public saying things like, “if I order one, maybe he’ll stop yelling” or “Please Billy, don’t hurt them.”
For a struggling U.S. economy, American sure is a buying alot of crap from TV. When I hear “Not sold in stores”, that typically is cause their crap isn’t worth taking up retail shelf space. Take your crap and get off my TV screen. Besides, I just cuddled up with my Snuggy Snuggie (made in China).
Have you ever bought anything from Vince or Billy? Do you own a Snuggie? What have you purchased from your television?
I’ve never bought any of that crap they show on TV. A big part of it is I can’t stand infomercial people. Especially the two you mentioned. though, if I had to pick between them, I’d say the sham-wow guy is less irritating cause he doesn’t YELL REALLY LOUDLY.
Agreed, especially Vince. What’s with the “Are you following me camera guy?” in the Sham-Wow commercial? Come on, we know it’s not live!
Christine’s last blog post..Childfree and Less Frazzled
Honestly, the Snuggie (which you spelled wrong, despite linking it) is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen. And you make no sense. Your post is all over the place and really doesn’t have any valid points.
@Jessy: Billy Mays could wake the dead.
@Christine: I saw this commercial again last night and I noticed what you were talking about. “Are you following me?” It’s made in Germany folks, it must be THE PERFECT product.
@Josh: Thanks for the speeling cooraction. I was pretty FupDuck when I wrote this post. Seeing it now with sober eyes… Geez, I was rambling. I’m not sure I know what my own point was…. other than Billy and Vince are creepy (valid point).
Thanks for reading and keep the comments coming.
